Five Cross-Cultural Principles about the Dead

These five principles anchor Ancestral Lineage Healing work in a cross-cultural context, and provide a foundation for how we can think of, and relate with, the ancestors.

  1. Consciousness continues after death.
  2. Not all the dead are equally well, at peace, and safe to relate with.
  3. The dead can change (or elevate in their level of wellness and vitality).
  4. The living and dead can communicate (even if we need to re-learn the skills).
  5. The living and dead have a lot of influence over one another, consciously or otherwise.

Five Steps of Ancestral Lineage Healing

During our workshop, I provided a brief overview of the fives steps I guide clients through as part of the Ancestral Lineage Healing process. These steps can be learned more deeply by working with me, or by reading the book Ancestral Medicine by Daniel Foor (in the resources below).

  1. Assessment of Four Primary Lineages.
    • These lineages include your two grandfather’s direct male lineages, and your two grandmother’s direct female lineages.
    • We assess the general level of current wellness within each lineage and select one to focus on (repeating the process for each lineage).
  2. Connect with an Ancestral Guide from the chosen lineage and ask them to establish a healing “container” around the lineage.
    • We also work with the Guide to understand the lineage gifts/blessings, as well as the burdens, traumas, troubles, and their roots within the historical context of the lineage.
  3. Healing of older ancestors.
    • Healing generally moves from older ancestors to the more recent dead. Older ancestors tend to heal more quickly and often in groups. After groups of ancestors are healed, they are welcomed out of the healing container to be welcomed by the collect Wise and Loving Ancestors.
  4. Healing of recent ancestors.
    • Recent ancestors (3-5 generations) can sometimes take a little more time to heal, and often are healed individually (rather than in groups).
  5. Embody lineage gifts and extend blessings to living family.
    • Once all of the ancestors are healed, the healing container “dissolves” and we work with the Guide to allow all of the lineages gifts and blessings to fully flow into our bodies unobstructedly.
    • Once we feel the blessings have fully landed within ourselves, we work to extend them out to the living as a sort of blessing at their doorstep to support them in their lives.
